Social Research Methods

There are so many debates going on in social research at the moment: online data, evidence use, ethical practice, mixed methods, participatory approaches, cross-disciplinary learning, to name a few. We have a small and successful list, and lots of scope to grow.

As a publisher, we have a significant role to play in supporting the development of new research understanding and skills, and in reflecting on emerging agendas and dilemmas. If you are interested in writing for us, please see the Commissioning Editor information below.

Meet the Editor

Catherine Gray, Senior Commissioning Editor

I came to work at Policy Press just under three years ago to develop the list of student learning resources, taking the lead on research methods publishing shortly after. I was at Palgrave Macmillan for many years before that, commissioning textbooks across a range of social science subjects.

There is nothing quite like being at the beginning of an idea and helping to shape it. Commissioning is an inherently collaborative process and it’s hugely satisfying to see the final product emerge and to get feedback on it. With vision, a commissioning editor can generate a real publishing legacy and that is a driving motivation for me.
