Call for special issue proposals

Families, Relationships and Societies
March 2020 & March 2021 issues

Deadlines for notes of interest: March 1st 2018 (2020 issue) and September 1st 2018 (2021 issue)

Potential special issue editors are requested to send a short proposal (no more than 1000 words) describing the scope of the proposed theme; the papers that it would contain; and the timetable. It should be clear how the special issue to this particular theme fits with the aims and scope of Families, Relationships and Societies.  We are looking for an overall analytical and theoretical coherence to the issue. All papers will be subject to the normal double blind peer review process.

Special issues would normally comprise of a short editorial, up to 9 academic articles and 3 Open Space pieces (a special feature of the FRS journal).

Proposals for the March 2020 issue should be submitted by March 1st 2018 and for the March 2021 issue, by September 1st 2018. The Editorial Management Board of the Journal will decide which of the proposals are to be accepted at their next editorial board meetings. The material for the Special Issue will be required in final form at least 3 months in advance of publication.

The person or group submitting the proposal will be expected to act as Guest Editor for the Special Issue, to liaise with contributors with regards to revisions and to produce an issue containing a strong and coherent collection of papers. They will work closely with the FRS Editors.

Proposals should be sent electronically to the FRS administrator at the University of Edinburgh.
