Health and Social Care

As the NHS and other health systems around the world respond to a global pandemic, it is more important than ever that our growing list of public health and social care titles inform policy and practice based on academically robust evidence.

We have a growing list in public health and health and social care, with a range of textbooks, monographs and policy-focused books that all aim to push forward the boundaries of teaching, theory, policy and practice. These include Health Divides, Inequality and African-American Health, The Health Debate, Clients, Consumers or Citizens? and the Sociology of Health Professions Series.

We are actively seeking to publish work that covers areas like global health, health inequalities and research into policy and practice. If you are interested in writing for us, please see the Commissioning Editor information below.

Meet the Editor

Isobel Bainton, Commissioning Editor

I came to Policy Press in 2012 from Wiley Blackwell.

Getting to choose who and what we publish is a huge privilege (and responsibility!). I love working with authors from the start of the process, helping them to develop their ideas and shape their book to be the best it can be.

Throughout the process, I maintain overall responsibility for the project and never lose the sense of pride and accomplishment when wereceive the first copies from the printer. Once the book is published and out in the world it’s great to watch how it’s received and what a difference it makes.
