Introducing the new Editors of the Journal of Poverty and Social Justice

We are pleased to introduce the new Editors of the Journal of Poverty and Social Justice:  Joanna Mack, Open University, UK and Marco Pomati, Cardiff University, UK. Joanna and Marco will take over from the current Editors in September 2021.

The Journal of Poverty and Social Justice provides an internationally unique forum for leading research on the themes of poverty and social justice. The journal explores poverty and social justice in relation to social security (broadly defined), employment, area regeneration, housing, health, education and criminal justice, as well as issues of ethnicity, gender, disability, and other social inequalities. The journal encompasses an original and exciting mix of scholarly research articles and lively policy- and practice-oriented discussions of topical questions for its academic and applied audiences.

"With Covid-19 having so sharply exposed the impact of social inequality within and between countries, the journal has an ever more important role to play in publishing scholarly research on the underlying causes and consequences of poverty. We look forward to working with academics from across the globe to bring together work from a range of specialisms that throw light on the underlying social and economic roots of poverty and their possible policy solutions. We will be looking, in particular, to develop the journal's coverage of issues of international relevance, bringing the journal's substantial reputation in the field of poverty research in the UK to an international audience."

The new editors will also be appointing a team of Associate Editors for the first time to help support the future development of the journal. The call for applications is out now and closes on 30 September.

We would like to thank the outgoing Editors Rod Hick, Cardiff University, UK and Gill Main, University of Leeds, UK, for their dedication to the journal and the significant achievements that have marked their term as editors . This editorial team were pivotal in the journal achieving its first-ever Impact Factor and played a crucial role in opening it to a more international authorship and readership. We are delighted to see all that the journal has achieved in recent years and look forward to working in partnership with the new editorial team.
